Ammerlaan Tie-back installation
Project Description
Ammerlaan Geothermie commissioned a workover on wells PNA-GT-05-S1 (producer) and PNA-GT-06-S3 (injector) to install new tieback strings as part of a long-term well integrity strategy. The objective is to create a second independent mechanical barrier and a monitorable annulus to enable early detection of integrity loss through annulus pressure monitoring, and to isolate the primary well envelope from production fluids.
Operations were planned for continuous execution (24/7) and combined rigless intervention (RIU), wireline, and hydraulic workover (HWU) activities to complete tieback installation and related wellhead reinstatement activities.
Challenges
- Designing the tieback to support long‑term integrity monitoring via a reliably monitorable annulus.
- Managing different integrity objectives and material selections for the producer and injector within one coordinated operation.
- Planning safe rig movements and equipment layout on a compact location, surrounded by active greenhouse facilities.
- Integrating rigless intervention, wireline and hydraulic workover phases into one continuous 24/7 operation.
Role of WEP
Following the acquisition of the former Veegeo activities from Sproule, GST is responsible for the end-to-end engineering and execution of the tieback installations, translating well integrity objectives into a safe, coordinated workover strategy covering design, planning and on-sites supervision.
